How To Get Back in the Drivers Seat
When you realize that your life is being dictated by forces outside of you, you are half way there. It took me years to see the invisible hand manipulating and controlling me. That invisible hand is investors. Investors make big bets on companies and products. Then they pour millions of dollars into marketing and advertising campaigns to convince you buy into their investment.
It’s an extremely lucrative endeavor. And for the most part it has worked for years. What happens when you realize the decisions you make aren’t your own. What happens when you wake up and realize what they want for you isn’t what you actually want. We are in the midst of a major identity crisis and investors are about to lose BIG unless they can make a major PIVOT! The investor in office buildings got screwed this year.
Understand that the investor is not accustom to this level of volatility the market has presented this year. Many investors who weren’t diversified lost lots of money. Passive investors lost while active investors gained. The pressure to find the next golden goose was on. The issue is the model itself. Investors seek quick wins, want to minimize their risk, and desire a healthy return on investments. Moving forward, investors are going to have to increase their risk tolerance in order to get healthy returns. Investors are going to have to look outside of the box for wins. That means turning off auto pilot and getting back at the wheel.
Consumers are pushing back. Consumer are not desiring the same things they once desired. You and me included. The world as we know has completely changed. Be on the look out for even more shifts in our demand and consumption. The entire slate is about to be wiped clear. In the absence of the old you have to be clear about what you want moving forward. It all starts with a vision.
